Children from Happy Days nursery

Children and staff from Happy Days nursery stepped out in their pyjamas in the name of charity. They are all raising funds for CLIC Sargent by taking part in a toddle from their nursery to Treliske hospital where they met staff from the CLIC Unit and took balloons for the children in the inpatient ward. The toddle was to formally launch the CLIC Sargent PJ5K in Cornwall. The PJ5K is a sponsored walk in pyjamas, taking place on 15th September 2007 in Newquay, as part of National Yummy Mummy Week.

In taking part in the event, they hoped to encourage other children and their families from all over Cornwall to take part in the PJ5K and help riase money for CLIC Sargent.

Emma Perry, Event Fundraising Manager for CLIC Sargent, says: “The PJ5K will be great fun and I’d urge lots of families to come along. It’s basically a five Kilometre sponsored walk or run from Tretherras School and around the Newquay Boating Lake at Trenance Gardens, with a 1K walk or toddle for little legs. In addition to that there will be other family friendly activities going on too. Many of the families I know taking part are going to have a picnic after the walk; it’s going to be great”

During National Yummy Mummy week (15-23 September) there will be 12 PJ5K events at locations around the UK. More than 5,000 people are expected to take part raising money for CLIC Sargent – the children’s cancer charity that provides support and care for the 10 children and young people diagnosed with cancer every day in the UK, and their families.
