A dedicated CLIC Sargent supporter braced the chilly waters off the Devon coast to raise more than £300 for the cause.
Ron Clayden, 71, from Bickington was among the hardy souls who took part in the Valentine’s Day Dip, plunging into the icy waters of Combe Martin dressed as Romeo the romantic clown.
Ron was joined by more than 20 other winter bathers, including two bankers, a fully dressed snorkeler and an Exeter City fan, who all made a mass splash to raise much needed funds for families affected by childhood cancer.
Ron said:“The dip was great fun and all the participants and spectators created a marvellous atmosphere. I am already looking forward to next year and planning my 2010 outfit.”

The event was organised by Emma Perry, CLIC Sargent's Event Fundraising Manager, who was kindly supported by volunteers from the Charity's North Devon branch.
Emma says: “It was a fantastic morning and everyone who braved the icy sea was grateful for the hot drinks and comforts supplied by the Royal Marine Hotel. We plan to make this an annual event and hope next year the local community will continue the fantastic level of support they showed us this year.”
