The CSSO Branch

The CSSO was conceived with one aim in mind; to support CLIC Sargent through emotionally inspired musical performance. The orchestra represents today’s generation caring for its’ own and gives emerging musical talent a chance to share ideas, inspiration and above all a compassion for all the young people under the charity’s care.

Musically, the group is a celebration of young and scintillating musical talent. For audiences, this is a unique opportunity to listen to exceptional and international young artists; showcasing not only the genius of the great repertoire and composers they perform, but also the fresh, utterly committed style of playing that is the hallmark of the ensemble’s youth and virtuosity. Furthermore the performers themselves gain crucial experience and the opportunity to develop an exciting orchestral sound for the 21st Century.

For more information, please email ceris.bradley@clicsargent.org.uk.

The Retros

The Retros are a musical duo who sing & play popular hits from 1955 to 2010 to raise money for CLIC Sargent.

The Retros are Dave & Rob who used to play in a function band with John, a very talented musician, who was defeated by liver cancer at the age of 40.  Shortly after John’s departure, the Retros were formed in his memory and they made their debut at a friend’s garden party in September 2002 before starting their public performances in pubs and clubs.

The Retros do not charge or accept any fees or expenses.  With the proceeds of playing at pubs and private functions together with donations from friends & business sponsors, over £53,000 has been raised for the charity as of November 2010.

The hallmark of the Retros is their inventive vocal harmonies together with Rob’s versatile guitar accompaniment supported by state-of-the-art technology to add other instruments & voices: No pre-recorded backing tapes are used; what you hear is what is actually being played & sung!

The Retros are normally available Monday to Thursday evenings: For bookings, please call Dave on 078 02 24 83 26 between 10am & 10pm or email the_retros@rocketmail.com  or visit their website www.retros.org.
