The team of estate agents from Ward and Partners in Faversham
The team of estate agents from Ward and Partners in Faversham
A team of estate agents from Ward and Partners in Faversham are celebrating after handing more than £40,000 over to children’s cancer charity CLIC Sargent. The money is being used to fund Lynn Leighton, a CLIC Sargent children’s cancer nurse based at the Medway Maritime Hospital in Kent.
Lynn is one of forty CLIC Sargent nurses across the UK who are funded by the Charity to provide specialist cancer care to children and young people.
Nicola Brown, a mum from Chattenden in Kent, has experienced first hand the difference a CLIC Sargent nurse can make after her four-year-old son, Alfie, was diagnosed with leukaemia in September 2005.
Nicola says, “Lynn has been such a terrific help to our family. From giving us all sorts of help and advice to being very caring to Alfie when he has to have yet another injection. And by coming out to our house to take blood samples or give treatment it means that we don’t have to make endless journeys back and forth to hospital which is one less thing to worry about. Without Lynn’s support things would be much harder than they already are.”

David Lench, Managing Director of Ward and Partners, adds: “We are delighted to be able to support this cause as we see only too clearly how vital the work of CLIC Sargent is. We are delighted to sponsor a nurse for the Medway Maritime Hospital in order to assist as many children in the area in getting the vital support and care that they need. As a company we believe in giving back to the community and target our fundraising activities to organisations which help care for and assist children with disabilities and/or terminal illnesses. We are keen to support the activities of CLIC Sargent and look forward to working with them in the future.”
CLIC Sargent nurses are on hand to support and care for children with cancer from the moment of diagnosis for as long as they’re needed. As well as being there on the children’s cancer ward, nurses like Lynn also visit families in their homes to provide practical and emotional support. They also visit schools to explain to the friends of children on treatment what happens when a child gets cancer.
