CLIC Sargent has received a funding boost of £2,500 from the Vodafone Foundation to help continue their support of young people with cancer in the Glasgow area.
The much needed cash injection will help CLIC Sargent continue to offer a range of services to support children and young people with cancer in Glasgow and across the UK. For example, the funding from the Vodafone Foundation could pay for two families to enjoy a relaxing holiday, taking a break from the trauma of treatment at Malcolm Sargent House in Ayrshire.
Glasgow is in one of 25 retail regions that is being provided with grants by the Vodafone Foundation to give to a local charity of their choice. This is the third year the Vodafone Foundation has overseen such a scheme with last year’s theme of ‘unlocking potential in young people’ continuing in 2009.
Since February, charities across Glasgow have submitted requests for funding to their local Vodafone store. Grants were then considered by the Vodafone Foundation trustees to ensure donations would make a positive difference to the lives of young people in the area.

Toni Smith, Store Manager for Vodafone in Glasgow said: “I am delighted that we are able to contribute to Clic Sargent’s work and help young people in the area. It is inspiring to see just what the charity can achieve locally. We all believe our contribution will help make a difference to young people in Glasgow.”
