On 17th May 2009 22 teams of adventurous Highland hikers set out in the Scottish Highlands on the first ever Mighty Munro Challenge in aid of CLIC Sargent. Teams were able to decide on the number of Munros (peaks) they would climb for the challenge. A total of 39 Munros were climbed totalling 128,529 feet.
The event has raised an impressive £5,700 for CLIC Sargent, most of which was raised by supporters guessing the total height of all Munros climbed during the challenge. The team that raised the highest amount of guesstimates won Bed and Breakfast for 4 kindly donated by the Clachaig Inn, Glencoe
There were some great team names and the top 5 were voted as Midge Life Crisis, Gin’ll Fix it, Bad Altitude, Aint No
Mountain High Enough and Are We There Yet?
The best team photo was judged to be by Ain’t No Mountain High Enough, who submitted a whole portfolio of great snaps (see the gallery).
Next year’s event will be staged in September 2010.
