The local daredevils who glided the breadth of the Clyde recently have raised a staggering £35,000 for CLIC Sargent. In total 165 people braved the zip slide challenge which took place in Finnieston, Glasgow to raise money for families affected by childhood cancer.
Richard Donald, CLIC Sargent’s local community fundraising manager said: "We are delighted that once again we had maximum numbers for CLIC Sargent's annual zip slide challenge. The weather was wonderful and this was the perfect day out for families who also enjoyed a barbecue and disco which ran throughout the day.
"It was amazing to think that we smashed last year's total of £30,000 thanks to the efforts of our fantastic fundraisers, many of whom dressed up for the occasion. We are particularly grateful to the Strathclyde branch of Foresters who kindly sponsored this year's event, as well as Botterills convenience stores for providing the catering and all the fabulous volunteers that helped with the event on the day.
"Every penny raised will enable CLIC Sargent to continue its vital work supporting families whose lives have been turned upside down by childhood cancer."
