Two former beauty queens joined forces with a local DJ to a launch The Crystal Rose Fashion Show for families affected by cancer. Nicola McLean (former Miss UK and Scotland) and Lois Weatherup (also a former Miss Scotland) were among the models strutting their stuff on the catwalk to raise money for CLIC Sargent.
The Crystal Rose Fashion Show was staged at the Hamilton Palace, Hamilton recently and compered by local DJ L107’s Scottie McClue and will also feature Big Brother runner up, Jason Cowan, who was be sporting the latest high street fashions donated by shops in Hamilton.
The fashion show has been organised by voluntary fundraiser Jamie Aitken who raised more than £3,500 on the night. Jamie said: “I have lost family members to cancer and I really appreciate the hard work that CLIC Sargent do with children and their families, this seemed a perfect way to help promote local fashion stores and raise funds for a great charity.”
Also hitting the catwalk in front of an audience of more 200 people was Corrine from Lanarkshire. Brave Corrine, was only 4-and-a-half years old when it was discovered on New Years Day that she had a tumour on her kidney. The fashion show is the latest way she has lent her support the Charity. In the ten years after being diagnosed she has also organised by a variety fundraising activities generating more than £18,000.
