Members of the Round Table's West Yorkshire Area have been busy over the last 12 months raising money for CLIC Sargent.
Events this year within the Area 9 West Yorkshire Round Table have included a Lands End to John O'Groats bike ride, a duck race, a casino night, and a fundraising event called A Mile of Money and many more events along the way.
Area Chairman, Chris Bowen set out to raise £7,000 for CLIC Sargent as his chosen annual charity. Little did he know how close he would come to nearly using its services. His young son Rhodri was admitted to his local hospital last year. Chris said "We were lucky enough to have had a false diagnoses for our son, but we saw first hand the great work CLIC Sargent do on a daily basis to help families from all over the UK. This made us even more determined to double our efforts for the cause"
Following Chris's personal experiences and the support of his fellow Tablers through that time, he managed to more than double his original target and raised £14,547.80 for children with cancer and their families.
Dee Richardson, Event Fundraising Manager for CLIC Sargent in the North and East Midlands, collected the cheque on the Charity’s behalf and said “We are extremely grateful to West Yorkshire’s Round Table groups for supporting us over the past year. With just over 100 people in the area they have done incredibly well to raise so much money. I would like to thank them on behalf of the children and young people we support.”
