Sunday 7th June, saw Roundhay Park in Leeds be taken over by pirates for the Greggs of Yorkshire Children’s Cancer Run. It was a fantastic day with 521 runners taking part and plenty more coming along to cheer them on and take part in all the fun activities and fundraising events going on the day. Although the total is yet to be announced it is hoped that the event will bring in at least £10,000 for CLIC Sargent.
This was the first time the event was held in the park and the first year CLIC Sargent was the chosen charity. The Greggs Children’s Cancer Run is now in its 27th year, and to date has raised in excess of £3 million for children with cancer in the UK.
Dee Richardson, Event Fundraising Manager for CLIC Sargent, said “It was a great event to be involved in. Everyone involved from the runners to the cheerers to the marshals had a great time and we are extremely thankful to Greggs for choosing us to be the beneficiary charity. Well done to all the runners who took part and thank you for supporting the Charity.”
