BTEC Dance pupils at Barnsley Academy held a Dance-a-thon event on Friday 27 January and raised an incredible £876.46. The event was part of CLIC Sargent’s Practice-a-thon.
The evening included performances of different types of dance including tap and ballet alongside more modern pieces. Pupils Nicole Pickersgill and Georgie Hardcastle did most of the organising of the event with help from their teacher Ms Tazzyman. The girls, who are only 15-years-old, pulled together an amazing show that really showcased the talent at the Academy.
Dee Tyler, Area Fundraising Manager, and Jane Risidi, Volunteer Representative, were invited along to the evening to explain the work the charity do. Dee said, “I would like to thank the pupils, all the staff and the people who came along to the evening. It was a wonderful night and has raised three times what the Academy hoped to bring in. Well done everyone.”
