Northfield School and Sports College in Billingham has been gearing up to their 24 hours of sponsored sports activities as part of Kick for Children with Cancer.

The event will take place on June 27th and see children of all ages taking part in a whole host of sporting sponsored activities including football, trampoline, climbing and even ultimate frisbee games.

Stephen Burge, the School’s Sports Community Officer said: “After taking part last year the school has decided to support the charity once again with our infamous 24 hour sports day. We were glad to support such a worthwhile charity last year and managed to raise £4,000. This year we have increased our target to £5,500 as we are aiming for a total of £50,000 over 14 years.”

Dee Richardson, Event Fundraising Manager, said “We are delighted that Northfield School and Sports College will be taking part in Kick for Children with Cancer in 2008. This year Stephen has kindly invited me to attend and I can’t wait!”

Last year, Northfield School and Sports College raised the largest amount of money of all schools or organisations across the country. This year they are setting out to raise even more money and they also hope to encourage other schools to take part in Kick for Children with Cancer by holding this year’s local launch.

Kick for Children with Cancer, now in its fourth year, is a UK wide initiative organised by CLIC Sargent to encourage children and young people across the country to get out onto the pitch this summer and play football in support of children with cancer.

Schools taking part can either chose to give all the money raised to the Charity or keep 25% for the school. Last year the event, which is supported by Chelsea FC,  saw up to 84,000 children take part throughout the country, raising an incredible £105,000.
