Two sets of brothers from North Belfast are gearing up for a nine-day charity motorbike challenge and are calling on big-hearted locals to sponsor them in a bid to raise thousands for CLIC Sargent.
Keen bikers Alan and Leslie Gillespie and Hugh and Kevin Russell have signed up for CLIC Sargent’s 2009 Barry Sheene Memorial Motorcycle Challenge and hope to raise at least £10,000. The brothers will join around 50 other bikers setting off from Brand’s Hatch in England on 26th May. As part of Team Sheene the brothers will ride through the stunning Swiss Alps, take to the legendary roads of Monte Carlo, enjoy the Mugello GP in Italy and finish back in the UK on 3rd June.
Alan Gillespie says: ''We are very happy to be part of this great event, it is a big challenge, we hope we can exceed our target of £10,000 for this very worthwhile charity. We would like to thank the motorcycle retailers in greater Belfast for their generosity, with a special thanks to Billy Nutt of Nutt Promotions and Eddie Irvine Karting in Bangor.
The boys will have their bikes on display at NI Motorcycle Show which is due to be held at the Kings Hall, Belfast from 13th – 15th February 2009. Any support you can give the boys will be greatly appreciated.
