Once again the staff of TOTAL UK have come up with a fun idea for raising funds for CLIC Sargent. The staff have raised a fantastic £2,500 by taking part in a month-long ‘tash-a-thon.’
Employees were encouraged to get involved by growing facial hair for TOTAL’s latest fundraising event: the ‘tash-a-thon’. The 18 participants who took part in the challenge had one month to grow the best ‘tash’ possible. Judging took place on the 9th June, and winners were announced in three categories: best moustache, most unusual moustache and most money raised.
The £2,500 raised is enough to fund a CLIC Sargent Play Specialist for one month. The Play Specialists use toys and photos to explain to children what will happen during their cancer treatment and help them to overcome their fears. The benefits of this being that if a child is calm and prepared, treatment can be easier and more effective.
We are always amazed at the fund-raising ideas that people come up with and this is no exception. Everyone clearly went to great lengths to grow their ‘tashes’ in order to raise funds for the charity and we are very grateful to TOTAL UK for its contribution.
Ratnasingham Balakrishnan, winner of Best Moustache said: “It’s been great to be part of a competition which also raises money for a good cause. We’ve all had a lot of fun and have enjoyed comparing our ‘tashes’.
Kate Munro, Corporate Communications Manager, TOTAL UK said: “The staff really got behind this initiative as the photographic evidence shows. Ratnasingham is worthy of the Best Moustache title, and we are very proud of him and everyone at TOTAL UK who helped to raise such a fantastic amount of money for CLIC Sargent.”
