Friends Russell, Richard, Steve and Gary have more than £5,300 for CLIC Sargent after cycling London to Paris in memory of their friend’s son David.
The friends chose to attempt the cycle to raise awareness, keep the memory of David alive and to let everyone know that David is not forgotten and always in their thoughts.
They set off from Marble Arch in London on Friday 19 August, cycled 90 miles and arrived in Calais on day 1. By day 2 they had reached Amiens and arrived in Paris on Sunday 21 August.
The weather was kind to the team. However the friends had to steer through 28 degrees down to Dover, around 30 degrees up to Amiens and 35 degrees as they rode into Paris. They felt it was a little hot, but they preferred it to rain!
Although it was very tough, they worked together as a team to achieve their end goal which was to raise money in David’s memory. One of the cyclists said: “Thinking about David during the tough bits kept us going and the feeling as we rode toward the Arch Du Triumph was pretty much indescribable.”
Congratulations to Russell, Richard, Steve and Gary and thank you to everyone who has supported them through their challenge.
