Publication Date: 16 December 2008

On Thursday 4th December, 20 brave participants took part in the first CLIC Sargent Oxfordshire Firewalk at The Ferryman Inn, Bablock Hythe.

Despite freezing temperatures, everyone arrived in good time and had some refreshment before beginning the training. After a solid hour’s training everyone went outside to watch the fire being lit, and measure out the length of their paces. Then it was a brisk dash back to the training room for their final 30 minutes of motivation.

At the end of the training, the firewalkers were truly ‘pumped up’ to face the fire. One by one they bravely walked across 20 feet of coals burning at over 1000 degrees Fahrenheit and without feeling any pain!

The money is still coming in and our firewalkers have done incredibly well, with many raising well above their £125 target!

The night was such a success that CLIC Sargent will be organising a glass walk (walking across pieces of broken glass) in 2009! For more information and to register your interest please contact Jennifer Webb at CLIC Sargent on: jennifer.webb@clicsargent.org.uk.
