Richard at the summit of Mont Blanc, posing in a CLIC Sargent t-shirt
On 12th and 13th June, Richard Chapman who lives in Nottingham, an experienced mountaineer and his friend Karl Donnan, who lives in France (and who’s only mountaineering experience was climbing stairs!) climbed Mont Blanc to raise money for CLIC Sargent and the National Society for Epilepsy.
The reason for choosing CLIC Sargent is a very personal one. Richard’s first son Archie died of brain cancer aged just 14 months in 1998. CLIC Sargent helped Richard and his family at this difficult time.
Karl’s son Ross started having seizures from birth and has a rare form of epilepsy. Richard and Karl chose to support the National Society for Epilepsy to help other families of children with epilepsy.
Dee Richardson, CLIC Sargent’s Event Fundraising Manager for the North and East Midlands, said: “It has been great talking to Richard over the past few months about this challenge. He really is an inspiration to us all. I would like to pass on my congratulations to Richard and Karl for this incredible achievement and thank them for all they have done for CLIC Sargent.”
