Ultra Marathon runner, Steve Gordon (40) from Northampton, will be taking part in a grueling new endurance event running from John O’Groats to Lands End in just 15 days.
Steve, who is aiming to raise £10,000 for CLIC Sargent from the challenge, said:
“I chose CLIC Sargent because I have recently become a grandfather and, while I hope never to be in the situation of needing CLIC Sargent, I deeply admire the work they do and the support that they provide families through the most difficult of times. I decided to do a 'really difficult' challenge that would fire me up to raise some money and challenges don’t get much tougher than pushing the body through 60 miles of running every day for 15 days. I’m sure it will hurt and there will be many low points - when these happen I can think about the money I’m raising and that will keep me running along!”
Claire James, Community Fundraising Manager for CLIC Sargent, added:
“I would like to say a huge thank you to Steve for choosing to support CLIC Sargent and wish him the best of luck for his extraordinary event. The challenge of running 868 miles in just 15 days is really going to test him both mentally and physically but we hope that knowing he will be helping children with cancer will spur him on to Lands End! Every day 10 families are told the devastating news that their child has cancer. CLIC Sargent is the only charity offering them care and support, every step of the way.”
