Home > virginlondonmarathon > Ollie's Story >Hey. I’m Ollie and I’m 18. I live on the Wirral, near Liverpool. I’m a huge Liverpool fan and I go to as many games as possible. I’m Deputy Head Girl at my local school, where I’m studying for my AS levels in English, PE and Biology.
I was first diagnosed with a Ewing’s Sarcoma (bone cancer) in January 2009. I’m on a treatment plan which involves lots of chemotherapy sessions and radiotherapy. I’m due to finish this treatment in November.
However, this doesn’t mean the end of my journey. In fact, it’ll be far from over.
I want to share my journey with you over the next six months. Watch my webumentary so that I can show you what my life is like as I try and get back to a ‘normal life’ again: going back to school and going out with my friends.
I’m hoping that this webumentary will also show other teenagers going through a similar situation that although it seems like your world has turned upside down, there is a way to get through it.
You’ll get to meet all the people who have helped me, including my CLIC Sargent Young People’s Social Worker and my big sister Georgie. Georgie’s preparing for a massive challenge – to run the Virgin London Marathon next year for CLIC Sargent.
To show your support to Georgie, please visit: http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/runningforollie.
There will probably be times over the next few months when I won’t want to talk much, but I promise you’re going to see what my journey is like – every moment.
I hope you’ll visit my page regularly over the next six months and catch up on what I’m up to.
If you have comments or questions it would be great to hear from you. All you need to do is email me.
Best wishes
Ollie
