Malcolm Prendergrast is the Chairman for the CLIC Sargent Bristol Branch and says “We have a great mix of people who are all volunteers on the committee and who have a wide range of skills and interests. This enables us to arrange and support a variety of events and activities.
top of pageAt the same time as providing valuable support for CLIC Sargent, this means our members get involved in areas they know and enjoy, but also in new areas where they can take on new challenges.
Some of the recent events we have been involved with, or are planning for this year include a Strawberry Fayre, line-dancing evening, supermarket collections and cheering points at the Bristol Half Marathon. We’ve already started planning for next year when we are looking to arrange some new and exciting events!
We welcome new supporters, to be on the committee or to help at particular events. Our aim is to raise the local profile of CLIC Sargent and have a good time arranging great events to raise essential funds.”

Penny Ho volunteered for CLIC Sargent following her nephew’s diagnosis with leukaemia last year.
“Just over a year ago my whole life changed and no matter what any of us did, there was no going back. I've been through all the emotions under the sun ranging from shock and total disbelief, to denial and complete hopelessness. There is absolutely nothing I can do to rid my gorgeous little man of this ugly disease and the only way I know how to get through this, is by doing something positive and worthwhile. This cancer is not going to win and we will fight it every step of the way but it is the hardest fight that you will ever have.
top of pageCLIC Sargent makes things easier for my family. They give us the support we need and it really does help. Every little bit does. I have returned the favour and helped in many small ways. For example, I have taken part in the Hydro Active run, I have volunteered and helped out at events such as the London Marathon and I have even abseiled down The Harlequin Shopping Centre!
If everyone helps out just a little bit it can make a huge difference to the work that CLIC Sargent can achieve – I urge everyone who has been affected by cancer to help this charity and ensure that we reach all the children and families that need our help.”

“I chose CLIC Sargent because as a young person who has experienced cancer in my family I feel an affiliation to cancer charities and thought it would be a great way to do something positive for the wider community.
top of pageI was overwhelmed with the support I was given as a volunteer, the staff at CLIC Sargent were all thoroughly helpful and there was a great working atmosphere. I felt really valued as a volunteer for CLIC Sargent and it was personally a very fulfilling role.”
