Cycling Challenge training guide

Cycling Challenges are designed for people of average fitness who are prepared to train. Training should start several months before the event – even if you are a fit individual – as overseas cycling challenges will be on different terrain and in different temperatures to the UK.

How you start training for a long distance bike ride depends largely on your present fitness level, age and the amount of cycling you have done in the past. This section includes tips about training and diet, and also contains a suggested training schedule which is available to download at the bottom of this page

CLIC Sargent has distributed this training plan as a guide only. You should always consult your doctor before undertaking a serious change in exercise or diet. Please note that CLIC Sargent cannot take any responsibility for injury or illness caused as a result of using this guide.

The schedule is meant as a guide only. If you register for a cycle the tour operator will send you a specific training plan  – which may differ slightly from this guide.
