Home > Get involved > Campaign with us > In Parliament >CLIC Sargent held two high-profile, exclusive dinners in the House of Commons with Conservative spokespeople and Government representatives.
The dinners were hosted by John Baron MP and Dr Ian Gibson MP respectively, who act as Vice-Chair and Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Cancer.
The events were a great opportunity to engage key Ministers, Parliamentarians and leading figures involved in childhood cancer in discussion on CLIC Sargent’s priorities for community care and support services.
Discussions focussed on the care and support needs of children and young people with cancer and their families who want to maintain an ordinary life close to home, during cancer treatment.
Highlights included:
- Phil Hope MP, Minister of State for Care Services, spoke at the dinner with Labour Parliamentarians
- The Conservative Shadow Ministers for Children, Health and Charities attended the second dinner event with other party representatives
- Two young cancer survivors shared their stories about living with and beyond cancer.
Other guests included frontline practitioners working with children with cancer, representatives from Macmillan Cancer Support, Contact a Family, NHS Improvement, National Children’s Bureau, BUPA Clinovia, Tesco, WellChild and the BBC.
