Here you will find the answers to some of the most common questions that our volunteers at CLIC Sargent ask.

Can I volunteer in a role that directly supports children and young people with cancer?

We occasionally have opportunities for volunteers to support children and young people with cancer.  However, if positions become available, they will be advertised on our website.  All of our other volunteering opportunities, from fundraising to office support, will help us to help children with cancer.

Do you offer training and support to CLIC Sargent volunteers?

We’ll ensure that before you begin your volunteer role with CLIC Sargent you feel confident about the tasks you’ll be undertaking, and will continue to offer you support via your key contacts at CLIC Sargent and the volunteer support team.

If I receive benefits, can I still volunteer?

Yes, the benefits regulations are clear that you can still volunteer, but for full details of the conditions on specific benefits, visit the Volunteering England website: www.volunteering.org.uk

How much time do I have to give?

We have a wide range of opportunities, so whether you can volunteer on a daily, weekly, monthly, or ad hoc basis, your time will make a valuable and lasting difference to CLIC Sargent.  We recognise that our volunteers have varying time commitments and we are dedicated to working flexibly with you to enable you to volunteer.

What references will I need to give?

CLIC Sargent will need two reliable references in order for you to begin volunteering with us.  For certain roles that involve working with children and/or young people, or where you will have access to sensitive data, you will need a criminal records check.  We will organise this for you.

Where can I volunteer?

CLIC Sargent operates across the UK.  Our volunteers can be found out and about promoting our work, fundraising in their local communities, at our homes from home, in hospitals and in our offices.  Others are based from home and pop in from time to time.  Our main offices are in Bristol and London, and we have regional offices in Belfast, Glasgow, Henley in Arden, Oxford, Bury St Edmunds, Lewes, Southampton and Prestwick.  We also have dedicated volunteers in our charity shops throughout the South West.  Whatever your location, we can use your support!
