Students at Canterbury University are beating the winter blues by putting on an evening of musical entertainment in support of CLIC Sargent.
The University’s inaugural ‘Open Mic Night for the Tykes’ is being organised by two students, Abbe Rodgers and Matt Harris, who decided to put on a social evening to encourage new musical talent, while raising money for children with cancer and their families.
The event will take on Friday 19th February 2010 at Horizons Cafe/Bar in the Broadstairs campus of Canterbury Christ Church University from 7.00pm till 11.00pm. This event is open to students and non students, young and old alike! (ID will be needed if you are lucky enough to look under 21.)
Event organiser, Abbe Rodgers, says: “To help support CLIC Sargent’s fantastic work, we are looking for musicians and bands of all genres and abilities to perform on the night. For a small donation – really anything you can afford – we would love you to get involved!”
Dan Powell, Community Fundraising Manager, CLIC Sargent adds: “It’s fantastic that these students at Canterbury are finding the time out of their studies to organise this event in support of CLIC Sargent. The charity relies heavily on such fundraising initiatives, so we are very grateful to organisers, Abbe and Matt.”
Entry to the night and to perform is by donation. For more information contact Abbe Rodgers on abberodgers@googlemail.com
