Myleene Klass has been voted the UK’s Yummiest Mummy for the second year running.  The mother-of-one topped the poll which marks the launch of National Yummy Mummy Week 2008 (September 20 to 28) - a fundraising event for mums to raise money for CLIC Sargent.

The classical musician and presenter scored the top spot after securing 29 per cent of votes in the survey of just under 2,000 mums aged from 18 to 45.  It is the second year in a row that Myleene has won the title, having shared the accolade last year with Nigella Lawson.  The former pop princess has managed to retain her appeal while balancing both a successful career and being a first-time mum.  Big Brother presenter, Davina McCall, came in second with 13 per cent of the votes, closely followed by Charlotte Church (12 per cent) and Kate Winslet (10 per cent).

David Beckham was named as the Dishiest Daddy with 16 per cent of votes, knocking last year’s winner, Brad Pitt, off the top spot.  Top Gear presenter, Richard Hammond, was voted runner up with 13 per cent coming in ahead of Scottish actor, Ewan McGregor (11 per cent).

The survey also questioned women’s attitudes to different aspects of motherhood.  Results showed more than a third of mums surveyed (35 per cent) said the cost of feeding the family caused more worries than paying the mortgage (18 per cent) or the cost of petrol (17 per cent).  Almost half (48 per cent) of those asked also felt the most important quality for being a good mum in 2008 is teaching their children about what’s right and wrong.

The poll was conducted as part of Yummy Mummy Week 2008 which is sponsored by Foresters and will see mums and their families pulling out all the stops to take part in fundraising activities across the country.  Women have been encouraged to take part in events organised by the charity or to host their own fundraisers, ranging from coffee mornings and family BBQs to pampering nights.

Sarah Gunn, CLIC Sargent’s National Events Manager for Yummy Mummy, said: “It is easy to see why Myleene has scooped the top spot once again because women seem to admire the way she has managed to juggle a flourishing career with life as a new mum.  It’s always interesting finding out who is the UK’s favourite Mum and what better way to celebrate motherhood than getting together with friends and families and raising money for a great cause.

“During the week more than 50,000 women across the UK will be taking part in Yummy Mummy Week to support CLIC Sargent and every penny raised really will help to make a difference to the 10 children and young people diagnosed with cancer every day in the UK.”

In the four years since the Yummy Mummy campaign was launched more than £700,000 has been generated and this year the aim is to break the £1m mark. There’s still plenty of time for women to get involved in Yummy Mummy Week 2008 – just visit: www.yummymummy.org.uk or call: 08451 206 658 to order a free fundraising pack.

The sponsor for Yummy Mummy Week 2008 is international financial services organisation, Foresters.
