Taking on an arduous journey is nothing new to 10 year old James Warmbold from Cambridgeshire.
In January 2007 James was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer and his long journey to recovery demanded great courage from James and his family.
This courage has now inspired a team of eight men from the village of Fenstanton in Cambridgeshire to tackle a gruelling 200-mile cycle challenge from Hull to Fenstanton in just three days as a dedication to James and his successful battle with this dreadful disease. The riders will set off on Thursday 12th June from the village and are hoping to pedal back to the King William Pub in Fenstanton on Saturday 14th June at around 4.30pm for a well-earned BBQ, and rest!
The team is committed to raising funds for CLIC Sargent who provided much needed support to the Warmbold family throughout 2007. CLIC Sargent offers a broad range of practical help from specialist clinical services, social and emotional support, holidays, grants and a Child Cancer Helpline.
The ‘Hull Is For Heroes’ team includes James’s own father Paul, who knows firsthand just how important CLIC Sargent were to his family during James’s treatment. “CLIC Sargent have helped us through some very difficult times and this is our way of giving back and saying thank you,” says James.
