Local gran to six, Maureen Mottram, affectionately known as Supergran has taken on 120 foot abseil from Bickleigh Viaduct to raise money for children and young people with cancer.
Maureen, from Plymouth, has worked tirelessly for the last five years to help raise money for CLIC Sargent by facing her fears and taking on challenges including abseiling, fire walking and skydiving. Since she started fundraising for CLIC Sargent Maureen has raised in excess of £28,500.
But Supergran does not plan to stop there though, after joining 35 other fundraisers to do her first abseil deep in the Devon countryside last month, Maureen is looking ahead to her next adventures and challenges to tackle.
She has already signed up to trek along the Great Wall of China in 2009 and shortly after her return tackle the Plymouth half marathon with all fundraising going to CLIC Sargent.
Emma Perry, Events Fundraising Manager for CLIC Sargent said: “There is just no stopping Mo, she takes on challenge after challenge, each time making such a difference to children and young people who have been diagnosed with cancer. She is amazing to see in action and a great inspiration to all fundraisers. Nothing is too much for her. She really is our ‘Supergran’.”
Every day 10 families are told the devastating news that their child has cancer. CLIC Sargent is the only charity offering them care and support, every step of the way.
