Pupils and staff from Grove Park Primary School in Chiswick have rolled out the red carpet and held a Star for a Day event, which raised an impressive £603.23 for CLIC Sargent. A child at Grove Park is currently receiving support from CLIC Sargent and the special day was organised to show support for the pupil and their family, and to raise money to help other children suffering from cancer in the UK.
The entire school from nursery to staff took part and dressed up as their favourite celebrity, film star or historical figure. The ‘stars’ strutted their stuff in a catwalk competition to be crowned the best in their class and an afternoon talent show was also organised to entertain the crowd with a wide range of acts.
Sue Bowcock, local Community Fundraising Manager for CLIC Sargent, said “It is really inspiring to see a school pull together as a community to support one of their own during a very difficult time. The money raised is the most Grove Park Primary School has ever raised from a fundraising day and I think that shows just how much fun everyone had whilst raising money for a cause very close to the school’s heart. I would like to say a very big thank you to everyone at Grove Park Primary School for taking part in this wonderful event”.
CLIC Sargent is currently supporting 239 families in London. The money raised by Grove Park Primary School will be used by the Charity to continue caring for children and young people affected by cancer. As well as funding frontline care professionals, support in the home and holiday services, CLIC Sargent also provides financial grants to help cover the increased costs that families face when their child has cancer. These services are financed by the Charity through donations from the public with no statutory funding.
