Sarah Fraser and Miranda Knowles of Team Scorpion-Dubois, the first all-women crew to compete in the iconic Round Britain Offshore Power Boat Race, are making waves for children’s cancer charity CLIC Sargent as they race their way around the coast to raise £50,000 for the charity.

The Round Britain Power Boat Race is regarded as the toughest power boat race in the world, as it tests both physical and mental stamina to the extreme. Forty-eight boats started from Portsmouth on 21st June to circumnavigate the coast of England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland in an attempt to cover over 1,300 nautical miles in just ten days. For both these experienced yachtswomen, this is a new and challenging adventure as Team Scorpion-Dubois compete against the elite of international power boat racers.

Whilst the team were in Inverness on Thursday 26th June, Sarah (46 years old, mother of 4) and Miranda (43 years old, mother of 3) wanted to learn more about the work of CLIC Sargent, and the support the charity is able to offer families and their children undergoing treatment for cancer, both in hospital and at home. Local families supported by the charity were invited on board the team’s new Scorpion Sting RIB and were treated to a spin around Muirtown Basin. CLIC Sargent has been closely monitoring their progress around the coast of Britain as Team Scorpion-Dubois bravely battle unpredictable seas in an attempt to raise £50,000 for the charity.

On Friday 27th June the race will continue to Edinburgh, Newcastle Upon Tyne, Lowestoft and finally back to Portsmouth on Monday 30th June.
