Talented up and coming musicians are getting ready to rock in aid of the UK’s leading children’s cancer charity, CLIC Sargent.

South London based music promoter Frantic Promotions and Exeter based company Entertainment FX have joined forces to host the evening of rock which will raise money to help local children with cancer and leukeamia in Devon.

The event, Rock for CLIC, takes place at Exeter Corn Exchange on Saturday 23rd August.

Rick Markee-Hicks, at Frantic Promotions, said: “We have teamed up with Entertainment FX to bring Exeter a great evening of Rock music featuring some of the best up and coming Rock bands around.

“Our decision to donate the profits from this event to CLIC Sargent came after learning more about their work in Devon and the amazing difference they make to the lives of children and young people with cancer and their families.

“The evening promises to be a great night out for Rock fans of all ages and we are hopeful that it will be a sell out event!”

Headlining the event is Richlife, who recently opened for The Feeling and Bon Jovi at the Ricoh arena in June.  Other bands performing include:

  • Mordecai the South London hard rock band who were described by Jim Benner of XFM Radio as having a deep, dark, rich sound
  • Godsized the heavy rockers from London who are currently touring with Mantra and will provide a deep southern metal flavour to the event
  • Morph, are an exciting energetic rock act from the South West who have played alongside Girlschool, Thunder and Dr Feelgood
  • Female fronted local band Kitty and the Lost Boys open the day with their catchy tunes, savvy lyrics and polished musicianship.

The event will also be filled with sets from local rock DJs from Phonic FM.

Tickets are priced at £15 and are available for Rock for CLIC by calling: 01392 665866.  For more information visit: www.exeter.gov.uk/cornexchange and www.myspace.com/franticpromotions

Doors open at 5pm and the event is open to everyone over 14 years of age.
