Brave souls are being invited to take part in a daring feat in Oxfordshire to raise money for families affected by childhood cancer.

CLIC Sargent is calling for individuals or teams of four with a sense of adventure to participate in a firewalk at The Ferryman Inn in Northmoor on Thursday 4th December from 6pm.

The challenge will see people walking over 20 foot of scorching embers burning at over 1000˚F without feeling any pain to help raise money for children and young people with cancer, and their families.

The event has been organised by Blaze, a firewalking company with 25 years experience, and all those taking part will undergo a two hour motivational training session in preparation for walking over the hot coals.

Jennifer Webb, CLIC Sargent’s local Events Fundraising Manager is keen for as many brave locals as possible to take part.  She says, “This is our first firewalk in Oxfordshire and we are looking for anyone with a sense of adventure to take on this mind-over-matter challenge!  It’s a fantastic opportunity to do something really different and a fun and rewarding way to raise money for children and young people with cancer, and their families.”

Registration costs just £10 and participants are asked to raise a minimum of £125 to take part (over 18s only). All money raised from the firewalk will go directly to CLIC Sargent to help families affected by childhood cancer.

Locally CLIC Sargent funds specialist nurses and social workers at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford to help provide care and support for children and young people with cancer, and their families.  The Charity also provides free self-catering accommodation close to the hospital at one of CLIC Sargent’s seven Homes from Home. CLIC Court enables families to stay together in a comfortable environment within walking distance of the hospital while their child is undergoing treatment.

For more information or to book your place for the firewalk please contact Jennifer Webb on 0208 752 2834, jennifer.webb@clicsargent.org.uk or text FIRE, with your name to 07951 530033 (normal rates apply).
