Local Health and Recreational Officer from Axe Valley Sports Centre, Vanessa Cross, 43, tackled the muddy Musbury Castle Challenge to raise money for CLIC Sargent.
Vanessa, a mum of two from Axminster, put on her running shoes for her fourth attempt at the hilly climbs of the Musbury Castle Challenge to help raise £170 to help children with cancer.
Vanessa said: “Musbury is such a great event, it is certainly not easy with its steep, muddy climbs but that is all part of the challenge. I love supporting the local event which is always great fun and this year was especially important as I wanted to raise money for CLIC Sargent who do such great work.
"My friend’s daughter was diagnosed with leukaemia and CLIC Sargent was there to support them like they support so many other families. It was great to know that I had reached a personal goal and at the same time have been able to help the charity.”
The Musbury Castle Challenge is an annual run in the village of Musbury and offers a gruelling challenge through the local hilly countryside. This year the event organisers supported CLIC Sargent and the local youth football team and handed a cheque to CLIC Sargent for £900.
