Lanarkshire Football Development Association are hoping to dribble, volley and pass their way to raising thousands for CLIC Sargent by dedicating a weekend’s football action to helping children and young people with cancer, and their families.
Kicking off the weekend in support of the Charity’s Kick for Children with Cancer campaign is a special match between Aston Villa FC Under 17s and LFDA Select on Friday 21st November. Former Rangers player and Dutch international Arthur Numan will be joining ex-Celtic star and Scotland legend Tom Boyd to watch Friday’s game.
Gates open at the Bent Road astro turf pitch in Hamilton at 7.30pm with a £1 entrance fee and there will be raffles on the night, and a penalty shoot out competition at half time.
The football fundraising continues on Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd November with all of the LFDA Fun Fours, Soccer Sevens and Elevens teams dedicating their weekend games to CLIC Sargent. Players, officials and supporters at the matches will be asked to each donate £1 to the cause.
Dave McKenna, LFDA Executive, says, “We are hoping to raise £4,000 for this most worthwhile cause. We are lucky to be working with children, so it is most appropriate for us to help them.”
The weekend has been organised to support CLIC Sargent’s Kick for Children with Cancer campaign – a nationwide initiative encouraging school and clubs to hold their own football fundraising events.
Lyndsay Bunce, Event Fundraising Manager for CLIC Sargent, is hoping for lots of goals and “I would like to thank everyone at the Lanarkshire Football Development Association for hosting this fundraising weekend and supporting CLIC Sargent’s Kick for Children with Cancer campaign.
"It would be great to see lots of supporters on the terraces cheering on their favourite team, and helping us to raise thousands for children and young people with cancer, and their families.”
