Big-hearted local golfers have been digging deep to raise money for CLIC Sargent. Over £6,100 was raised at a charity ball and auction at the stunning Stoke by Nayland Golf Club earlier this year and the money has now been presented to CLIC Sargent to help support children and young people with cancer.
Lots up for grabs at the charity auction included a hot air balloon ride kindly donated by Wizard Balloons and one week’s holiday accommodation in France.
“A big thank you to Henry, Mandy, the staff at Stoke by Nayland Golf Club and everyone who attended the event, and donated auction prizes, for making this such a success,” said CLIC Sargent Community Fundraising Manager Karen Roberts.
“This donation will make a real difference. £6,000 is enough to fund a CLIC Sargent Play Specialist for three months who will use toys and photos to help children cope with, and understand difficult treatments and procedures,” says Karen.
In 2007 44 families in Suffolk were supported by CLIC Sargent. Every day 10 families are told that their child has cancer. Diagnosis often comes as a shock. Treatment usually starts straightaway and can last up to three years. As the children’s cancer charity, CLIC Sargent is there… with clinical, practical and emotional support, every step of the way.
