Two bikers from Essex are gearing up for a night of Indian-inspired food and entertainment at the Bollywood Indian restaurant in Colchester on Wednesday 28th January to raise money for CLIC Sargent. Friends Andy Barker, 28 from Colchester, and Richard Brotherton, 50 from Chelmsford, are urging local curry-lovers to snap up the remaining tickets for the evening as soon as possible as it’s proving a big hit!

Keen bikers Andy and Richard have signed up to take part in CLIC Sargent’s 2009 Barry Sheene Memorial Motorcycle Challenge and have organised the curry night to help them reach their fundraising target of £2,500 per rider. The pair will join around 50 other bikers from across the country setting out from Brand’s Hatch on 26th May. Andy and Richard will join Team Sheene to ride through the stunning Swiss Alps, take to the legendary roads of Monte Carlo, enjoy the Mugello GP in Italy and finish back in the UK on 3rd June.

“We signed up for CLIC Sargent’s 2009 Barry Sheene Memorial Motorcycle Challenge last year and have been busy fundraising to try and reach our target,” says Andy. “We came up with the idea of the curry night and approached the team at Bollywood who were only to happy to stage the evening for us. There are still a few tickets left for the evening so I would urge anyone wanting to come along and enjoy a delicious meal with fantastic entertainment, whilst raising money for a good cause, to get in touch.”

Tickets cost £12 each which includes a tasty Indian meal, disco and entertainment.  The curry night is being held at Bollywood Indian restaurant on Military Road in Colchester at 7.30pm.  Profits from the evening will be added to Andy and Richard’s fundraising totals and donated to CLIC Sargent.

The Barry Sheene Memorial Motorcycle Challenge has been held annually since 2006 and has raised £250,000 to date to help children and young people with cancer, and their families. Barry was Britain’s two time Grand Prix world champion and the event is held to celebrate his achievements and raise money for CLIC Sargent, his favourite charity.

Places for the 2009 event sold out in record time so registration for the 2010 ride will open in February this year.
