CLIC Sargent is looking for more keen runners to join its team in this year’s Belfast City Marathon on Monday 4th May. Leading the team will be Liz Osborne, CLIC Sargent Services Manager for Northern Ireland, who will be putting her best foot forward for the Charity she has worked for for four years.

Liz, 55 from Belfast, manages a team of CLIC Sargent front line staff including social workers, a youth development worker, family support team, a community play specialist and a clinical psychologist who provide all round support to families facing childhood cancer in Northern Ireland. She will be pulling on her running shoes and taking part in the fun run on the day.

“I’ve started my training and am really looking forward to joining lots of other runners in the CLIC Sargent team,” says Liz. “We provide care and support to children and young people with cancer, and their families, from diagnosis, through treatment and beyond. But we need funds to continue to be there for these families and that’s why we would like to see a bumper CLIC Sargent running team at this year’s event. Every penny raised really does make difference.”

Runners choosing to support CLIC Sargent will receive a free fundraising pack and t-shirt and will be cheered on by the Charity’s supporters at points spread along the route on the day.

“We are keen to recruit runners for our teams taking part in the marathon, relay, walk and fun run on Bank Holiday Monday,” says CLIC Sargent’s local Community Fundraising Manager Naomi Conway. “These events are both mentally and physically challenging. But what better motivation to get you across the finishing line than knowing the money you raise will help provide vital care and support families whose lives have been turned upside down by childhood cancer.”

For more information or a free fundraising pack call Naomi Conway, CLIC Sargent’s Community Fundraising Manager on: 028 9072 5780 or email: naomi.conway@clicsargent.org.uk.
