Calling all those with a head for heights! CLIC Sargent, is offering adrenaline junkies the chance to do something amazing this Christmas by taking part in an abseil to raise money for children and young people with cancer.
Brave souls are being invited to take part in a nail-biting 80 foot abseil down Exeter University’s Harrison Building which takes place on Saturday 13th December. Participants are also being encouraged to enter in to the Christmas spirit by sporting festive fancy dress.
Emma Perry, CLIC Sargent’s Events Fundraising Manager, said: “The Christmas Cracker Abseil is a fabulous opportunity to do something amazing during the festive season and really help make a difference to those families whose lives have been affected by childhood cancer. It should be a great challenge to any abseil enthusiast as well as those wanting to try it for the first time. I would encourage people to apply as soon as possible as places are limited.”
CLIC Sargent spends approximately £3,500 per child its supports. The organisation’s services include the provision of social workers, specialist nurses and doctors to help young people and their families cope with cancer. These services are financed by the charity through donations from the public with no statutory funding. CLIC Sargent also offers holidays in Exmouth specifically for families affected by cancer. All funds raised by the exciting descent down Harrison Building will go directly to CLIC Sargent to help the charity continue its vital work.
The challenge is open to anyone over the age of 16 and people can take part in teams of four or individually. Each participant is required to pay a registration fee of £10 and raise a minimum of £100 sponsorship per person.
