Recieving the knews
I was told I had an osteosarcoma in my knee on 12th December 2008 I was totally shocked as I never thought that I would ever get cancer let alone as a child. I had my hycman line fitted and a week later started chemotherapy on 27th December. I had 3 months of chemo before I was told I was ready to have my operation. The operation consisted of having the tumor and the bone in my leg removed and replacing it with some sort of metal. They were thinking that because I am quite tall I might be able to have an adult sized prsothesis which meant I wouldn't have to have an operation every time it needed lengthening. So they measured me up and found that I was tall enough. So I had my operation on 20th March 2009, it took 5 hours but it all went really well. I was in hospital for a week after the operation and as soon as the physios saw that I could climb stairs with crutches I was allowed home.
I then had 5 months more of chemo to go but I am half way through it now and I cant wait for it to be over. It has been the most emotional and hocking experience of my life but it had also taught me alot. My friends have been so amazing and if any of them read this I just want them to know how grateful I am especially to Meg, Jess, Georgie, Bry, and Charly for helping me around school and just being there for me I love you all so much. My family have also been incredible and so so supportive. I still have 2 months of chemo to go and a bit more physio but there is a light at the end of the tunnel for everyone!
