Original topic post: ALL newcomers

message: We were told 2 weeks ago that our 11 month old son has ALL. I think I have been through every emotion possible and our lives have been turned upside down. The strangest thing is, I am now getting used to living in hospital and all the drs and nurses, but it feels like 2 years not 2 weeks! We know we have a very long journey ahead, but never realised that all parents have a hidden inner strength that is just waiting for the moment your child needs it. Just wondering if any other newcomers to ALL feel the same.

message: Hi in response to this the answer is yes. Our daughter Kitty was recently diagnosed with ALL the weekend of 26th April. We are devastated and like you have gone through every emotion possible.. why us?? Why any child for that matter?? It has turned our world upside down and we are very frightened. Your inner strength has very remarkable power to lift and support your child being positive is so important we feel. We have a little boy almost 4yrs and is very difficult for him also. We are worried ans anxious about the future and still really feel that the doctors have got it wrong!

message: My nephew had AML and his parents were in hosp for 8 months with only 3 breaks at home. The hosp became there new home. My brother did not like returning to his own place but his wife was greatful of a break. Everyone is different I suppose but hosp life is not easy but u will make good friends of other parents and family memebers that will help get u thro it. Support from ur family and friends is vital so don't be afraid to ask as sometimes people don't know what u need or how to be available to u. All thro our journey our wee boy gave us the strength to carry on and when we had a wobble we just looked at him and thot if he can go thro this then we can hold it together. Good luck and remember to look after urself too.
