Providing general hospital services and emergency care to the local community including a full range of medical, surgical, diagnostic, rehabilitation and therapy services. Services are across three hospitals: the Royal Liverpool University Hospital, Broadgreen Hospital and Liverpool University Dental Hospital. It is one of the Associated Principle Treatment Centre for Teenage & Young adult’s cancer care, for Merseyside & Cheshire.

top of pageGeneral hospital amenities
There are a number of cafes and restaurants within the hospital check on ww.rlbuht.nhs.uk for up to date information. There is a Dining room on lower ground floor (for visitors). Opposite the hospital are a number of cafes and coffee shops.
The mailbox is in the main entrance of the hospital and there is a cash machine on the 1st floor.
There is a post office and supermarket within walking distance of the hospital.

Train: The hospital is one mile from Lime street station where taxis are easily available.
Bus: Call Merseytravel on 0871 200 2233 or visit http://www.merseytravel.gov.uk for timetables and information.
Cars: The hospital is well signposted throughout the city. It is approximately three miles from the M62 (signposted).
Car Parking: Patients and visitors can park in the nearby secure Q-Park facility which is situated less than a 5 minute walk from the hospital and is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The vehicle entrance to Q-Park is on Epworth Street (off Erskine Street) and to access this, you must follow the signposts through the one way system onto Epworth Street. A pedestrian exit is available on the Prescot Road side of the car park.
Disabled parking and shuttle bus facility - Disabled car parking is provided at the Q-Park multi-storey. Disabled spaces are available on the entry level and are well marked and signposted. Q-Park has been assessed by the Trust’s Patient Council and Liverpool City Council Disability Discrimination Act officials to ensure it is DDA compliant. A shuttle bus service will run between Q-Park and the hospital buildings to provide transport assistance to anyone requiring it. The bus runs on request so if the bus is not there as you arrive, please speak to security or car park staff will radio for the bus for a pick up within a few minutes. There is a height restriction of 2.1 metres at Q-Park so if you have a vehicle above this height please contact the Trust’s Security Team on 0151 706 2228 to make alternative arrangements.
Car park charges: The Q-Park multi-storey car park - Up to 2 hours £2.80, Up to 4 hours £3.40, Up to 6 hours £6.50, Up to 24 hours £8.20.

Ward 7Y (Haematology Ward) is located on the 7th floor (take lift and follow the signs). It is also a day ward.

There are two dedicated beds for teenagers and young adults on ward 7Y.

Patients and their families have use of a quiet room if they would like to have some privacy, though this room is shared by another ward as well.
There are telephones and televisions available to patients.
There is a fridge and microwave on the ward for patients to heat up their own food. Please check with the nurse how much space there is in the fridge before bringing in too much.

Parents may stay for a few nights on the ward, but long term accommodation is available in the Hillsborough Suite for £20-£30 per night. Contact staff on 0151 706 4700 for details. Contact your CLIC Sargent Social Worker if financial difficulties will make it difficult to pay for this accommodation.
