General hospital amenities
Patients and visitors may use the two main restaurants on the Royal site. The restaurant and coffee area in the new RVH is situated on level 2 just above the main reception desk and is open 24 hours a day. There is also a large shop on the ground floor of the new hospital just past the reception area.
There is a small café situated off the main corridor in the children’s Hospital. This is available to parents and staff and provides breakfast, snacks, lunch and evening meals daily up to 6pm. There is also Bostock Restaurant, situated close to the children's hospital which is open Monday to Friday 8am - 2.15pm.
There are a number of chemists, shops and places to eat all within walking distance of the hospital:
The Park Centre is a shopping centre located a 2 minute drive or 5 minute walk from the Broadway Road entrance to the hospital. The Park Centre provides Dunnes Stores, Iceland, Boots Chemist, Superdrug and a number of sports shops, cafés and more. The Bank of Ireland and ATM’s are located in the mall.
Belfast City Centre is approximately 10 minutes drive from the hospital. Here you will find a number of cinemas, the Opera House, Waterfront Hall, Odyssey Arena and many other major facilities.
The nearest Post Office to the hospital is located on Grosvenor Road. The hospital has easy access to the main M1 and Westlink routes to all areas within Northern Ireland.

Train: The main train station is located in the centre of the city and is well served by buses and taxis.
Bus: There are a number of buses which pass the hospital. All buses traveling along the Falls Road pass the hospital. Some of the services are listed below:
· Translink Metro runs regular services leaving Queen St via Castle Street, Belfast along the Falls road. Routes 80 and 81 also leave Queen St stopping at Upper Queen St near the City Hall.
· A special Royal Hospitals bus (Route 95) leaves from Donegall Square East at the side of City hall at 7:10am, 7:30am and every half an hour after that. This bus stops at Howard St, the Europa Bus Centre and the Railway stop in Great Victoria St.
Parking on Site: The hospital has a large visitors’ car park and a smaller visitors’ car park located behind the children’s hospital. There is a small charge payable at the kiosk or pay machines before you return to your car. Please always allow plenty of time (around 30 minutes) to park and get to your clinic. There are also a small number of spaces close to the Outpatients Centre for people with disabilities, along with a set down point for disabled patients.

Malcolm Sargent House provides free accommodation for parents of children staying in the Children’s Haematology Unit. There are two en-suite bedrooms, a bathroom, sitting room and kitchen. Facilities in the kitchen include a fridge freezer, cooker, washing machine and tumble drier. Staff on the children’s Haematology Unit offer accommodation as appropriate.
Please note that this accommodation belongs to the hospital, not to CLIC Sargent.
