Train: Leeds main train station is located in the centre of the city around two miles from the hospital. All major services from around the UK arrive at Leeds. There is a City Bus to LGI from the train station.
Bus: A variety of buses arrive in Leeds City centre.
Parking: Parking charges are as follows:

6 hours- £11.00
24 hours- £16.40
Families staying on the ward can obtain a permit from the Ward Clerk. For children having out-patient chemotherapy at the Children's Day Hospital, permits are available from Reception.

No. of Beds:
Ward 76: 16 beds in three bays and five cubicles
Ward 78: eight beds; four in a bay and four in side rooms
Ward 94: nine beds in bays and three cubicles
Age Range:
Ward 76: 0 – 13
Ward 78: 13 – 18
Ward 94: 18 - 25. After this age the patient will be cared for on the adult ward.

Play: There are three nursery nurses in the playroom and one play specialist on the children’s ward, which can only be accessed when it is staffed. The room is well-equipped and contains different arts and crafts, books, toys and Playstations. The Playstations are on trolleys and can be used while the child is in bed. There is an activities coordinator in the dayroom on the adolescent ward the dayroom contains a large screen TV, DVD player, a computer and DJ music equipment. Again, there are Playstations available on the ward. The adolescent ward also benefits from laptops and internet access by the bedside.
Learning: There is a hospital school operating Monday to Friday in the afternoons. Both wards 76 and 78 also have a full-time learning mentor to liaise with the child’s school, college or university.
Other Facilities: There is a kitchen on Ward 76 staffed by food service assistants who can prepare snacks and light lunches for patients on Wards 76, 77 and 78. There is also a parents' sitting room and separate kitchen.

Meal Times: These are at set times. Usually breakfast is at 8am, lunch at 12pm and tea at 5pm.
Rounds: These are carried out every morning. The MDT rounds are on a Monday afternoon.
Visiting Times: Open visiting is in place.
top of pageAccommodation for families
One parent is able to stay next to every bed on the ward. There is also a home within the grounds of LGI called Eckersley House, which is supported by the Sick Children’s Trust. This is available to families who do not live in Leeds. There are 15 bedrooms and one flat (parents of under 16s only). Accommodation should be organised through the ward staff.
